Day 37 - Day 38

Saturday, September 25th 2010

Thai Thai with Jon. Haven't had Thai in WEEKS or seen Jon for that matter, so that was exciting. Then I stayed over Kati's where we watched “Get Him To The Greek” and “500 Days of Summer.” Very fun!

Sunday, September 26th 2010

Worked in the library for 4 and a half boring hours with Lisa today. We set up the display for Banned Books Week, but that was the extent of fun today. Came back to the dorm and had dinner with Krystin, where we went to the Ice Cream Social in the cafeteria. Woo! P.S. I brought my guitar back with me in hopes that one day I might have time to play it!

Day 36 - Friday, September 24th 2010

Cha-cha in ballroom dance again. Still not as fun as the disco. Good news though – I think I may have joined a study group today. It happened like this. I was sitting at one of the tables in Butler and two people from my dance class (also Calc) sat with me. One was a girl I sat next to in class, the other was Mike – the disco beast. A boy named Ahn came and joined us too. She was working on an online Calc assignment and none of them remembered how to go about doing it, so I just sort of reminded them. Mike then asked if I wanted to be in their study group, so I said, “Sure.” Interesting. Took the quiz where I worked out most of a problem I didn't have to work out. Way to pay attention. Got my Chem test back and am slightly disappointed, but I can deal. Continued our Huck Finn discussion in English. I had lunch with the most awesome Alicia. To add to her coolness, today I discovered that she's my musical soulmate. Badass. We spent the entire lunch hour talking about the amazingness that is Christofer Drew. It may have been one of my most experiences thus far. Home tonight.

Day 35 - Thursday, September 23rd 2010

Generally miserable. I was just not having it. Classes were boring with the exception of History, which made my day today. Thank you, Matt and Aneka, for being hilarious. The official motto for Honors History 3 is now “Well, you don't believe in God enough – back of the sex line.” Good times. Also, Big Bang Theory was hilarious.

Day 34 - Wednesday, September 22nd 2010

Did the cha-cha in dance, and had “fantastic” Calc. Then, the chem test. Not bad at first, but then it turned into a nightmare. I ran out of time and had to guess on a couple of questions and it was crazy. I just really really really hope I did better than I feel like I did. I'm not going to fuss just yet though, it's that nice to have this stress off my back (for now). We'll just have to see now. Met with my adviser and stopped by the library to de-stress (Ron is totally therapeutic to talk to). Afterward, off to English. I now have another ten chapters of Huck Finn to read in two days – is it bad that I consider that a piece of cake?

I did go to work in the library for 3 hours after that. Usual stuff, but then I helped sort books for Community Day at the campus, which included widely read books from grades k-12. This is how I ended up reading “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day.” My co-worker Lisa (who has a son in college) read “The Runaway Bunny.” Go us.

Day 33 - Tuesday, September 21st 2010

Chem lab. Ugh. So first of all, my partner didn't show up (until 10 – lab starts at 9). I joined up with two other boys because I didn't want to work by myself. They needed someone with a little feminine grace to handle the crucible and tongs though, so it was win-win. Once my partner finally showed, we made a group of four and finished the experiment. Chorus was better though. In our “supersmallgroup,” I was asked to do the descant (fun little solo part). I'm super excited. Also, the presentation for History went pretty well and Dr. Nordstrom seemed to like it, so I think we're in the clear.

I work-studied in the library for two hours and went back to the dorms. Then, at 8:00, I watched GLEE! It was awesome.

Day 32 - Monday, September 20th 2010

Insanity at dance today. We switched partners like 8 times during the course of one song. Then, I went to Calc – DUNDUNDUUUUN (that's dramatic theme music, in case you were wondering). Turns out, I TOTALLY BEASTED MY FIRST CALCULUS TEST! I'm really happy and hope I do well on my Chem test (which I've been studying for). Then (and I didn't know this), my English test was out of 110%, so I actually managed to get 100%. I just hope it's really 100%, and not 100/110. It did just say 100 on the top though. I met with Nevin and Cristina in the library to make up our discussion question for the presentation and fix up the PowerPoint. I did talk to Aneka later too. I also had a 5 minute THON meeting. Otherwise, I've been finishing up class work. Well, I'm off to start reading “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” Wish me luck!

Day 31 - Sunday, September 19th 2010

Mom was out dancing at festivals today, so I was home working on school stuff. I had to use Microsoft Excel to graph something for my Lab Report. Just in case you were wondering, Microsoft Excel is a PAIN IN THE ASS. It literally took me forever to graph a goddamn line. That's all I wanted – A LINE. Ugh. Relatively uneventful otherwise. I've discovered that I'm practically the driving force behind this stupid history project. I'm the one trying to arrange meetings, I'm the one who sees everyone before the actual presentation, I'm the one who's actually worried about the outcome!! Frustration.
